What is formaldehyde ?

Formaldehyde is a chemical which is known to irritate the lungs and has been proven to cause cancer in animal tests, and is considered likely to be carcinogenic in humans. Formaldehyde is not allowed to be used in cosmetics in Japan or Sweden.
